Prepping for Spring Break Golf

It’s that time of the year again, golf season. Spring break is quickly approaching, and it offers the perfect time to get out and play a couple of rounds of golf. Spring break can be a great time to get out and practice your play, especially if you haven’t played all winter.

Spring Break Deals

Some golf courses will offer deals for spring break in order to entice play. Spring break falls at a convenient time as well. Rates for the season have risen, but still aren’t up to the cost of summer rates.

Most courses will offer shoulder season rates, in between summer and winter season rates. Shoulder season rates are more than winter rates, but are still more inexpensive than peak summer rates. At River’s Edge Golf Course in Bend, Oregon, the shoulder season starts March 20, right at the start of spring break, and ends May 21, when peak season starts.

Deals on Membership

Some golf courses may offer deals in membership rates, during the spring, again to entice sales. Some courses may offer membership sales during the spring or shoulder season, and offer a discount on cart rentals or greens fees.

Practice

The most important part of spring break golf, is simply to play again. If you haven’t had a chance to play all winter, getting out for your first round can be tough. Be sure to hit your local driving range for some practice sessions before you head out to play a full round. Keep your mental game sharp. It can be rough to get out and play the first game of the season, but be sure to remind yourself, that it is the first game of the season, and you can only get better as the season progresses.

Be sure to take the time to stretch, and take practice swings. If you haven’t stretched those muscles all winter long, you’re at more of a risk to pull them. A pulled muscle can hamper your game well into the summer months, so be sure to take the appropriate amount of time to stretch.

Outdoors

Enjoy the spring air, and the course. If the only activity you’ve had all winter involved bundling up and trudging through the snow, take the time to enjoy the course, and the fact that you’re playing an outdoor sport with nothing but a light jacket on.
