Meet the Staff
Director of Golf Operations | Employee since 2003
Troy previously worked for Kapalua Golf Club in Maui as a PGA Tour Calligrapher.
Troy’s favorite front nine hole at River’s Edge is Hole 6 because for a relatively short Par 4, it’s the beginning and ending of another hole along with the waterfall feature. Troy’s favorite back nine hole at River’s Edge is Hole 16 because of the 250 foot drop on this Par 3 makes for a very fun and interesting hole.
Troy’s favorite golf course out of Central Oregon is the Kapalua Plantation Course in Maui.
Troy’s favorite professional golfer is Freddie Couples because “there is something about his ability to not allow external pressures to affect his golf game.”
Troy discovered golf through his father who took him to the course when he was 11 years old.
Troy lives in Bend with his wife Kristi and two children Aubrey and Cameron. In his spare time, he enjoys camping and fishing.
Golf Course Superintendent | Employee since 2013
Mike previously worked as Golf Course Superintendent – Eaton Country Club where he completed a 10 year master plan renovation project and installation of new irrigation system. He improved the course dramatically through years of solid agronomic practices.
Mike’s favorite front 9 hole is Hole 5 because it’s a good solid par 5 with many options on how to play the hole. “There is a high risk reward value to the hole depending on the decisions you make starting right from the tee shot.”
Mike’s favorite back 9 is the par 3 Hole 16. “The elevation change coupled with the changing wind directions keep you guessing on this hole.”
Mike’s favorite Golf Course outside of Central Oregon is Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania because history, design and conditioning of this club is a very rare thing in golf. “You can just feel it when you are on the property.”
Just like Troy, Mike is a big fan of Fred Couples. “I grew up watching Fred Couples play golf. I always tried to model my swing tempo and my on course temperament to what I saw Couples do.”
Mike discovered golf through his father had him on the course at 5 or 6 years old. “I never got serious about the game until about 14 or 15 and started playing golf for my high school team.”
Mike has been married to his wife Julie since 1996. On a special occasion, he will bring his German Shepherd Cody to the course to help keep the Canadian geese on the move. In his free time, Mike and his wife enjoy any opportunity to go fishing, camping, hiking or skiing.
