The Return to Five Tee Boxes
One of the most interesting things about Muir Graves’ golf designs is the flow that the holes follow based on the natural topography. In the late 1980’s Graves began design and construction of River’s Edge. He envisioned a course with five tee boxes allowing players of all skill levels to enjoy the challenging track.
When the homeowners that surround the golf course purchased the course in 2022, the vision was to restore the golf course to the vision of Muir Graves. Some of that restoration work is now complete, and projects are planned for 2023 and 2024.
In July 2022, River’s Edge will return to five tee boxes. The black tees, or ‘tips’, are our championship tees for players who want to experience the course at its longest distance. The blue and white tees are for middle to high handicap men, low-handicap or long-hitting women, and low-handicap or long-hitting senior men. The gold tees are for senior, beginner, junior golfers, and longer-hitting women. The red tees are for women and are designed to make the course more accessible and fun.
Because the course was operated with four tee boxes when it was last reviewed by the Oregon Golf Association (OGA) there is no rating information for the black tees. OGA is evaluating River’s Edge in August 2022, at which time new ratings and slope for all tee boxes will be assigned to the course.
