10 Tips for Improving Your Golf Game

Winners never quit and that includes right here on the course. There are always things you can do to improve your performance and our River’s Bend Golf Course team has put together a list to get you started. Here are ten golf tips for improving your game.

Tip #1: Practice Your Swing at Home

If you’re really trying to improve your golf game, practice your swing at home. Of course, you probably don’t want to knock balls into your neighbor’s pool, but repetitive swing motion can help give you a better chance when you finally do make it out on the course.

Tip #2: Use a Mirror to Check Your Stance

Posture is an incredibly important part of improving your golf game. Break out your clubs, stand in front of a full-length mirror, and see where you stand. You might be surprised at how far off or just right you actually are.

Tip #3: Do Short Putt Drills

Many golf games and won and lost in the putt. Do drills as often as you can to try to improve your putting skills. If you have a practice travel putting green at home or space for one, even better.

Tip #4: Look for Pros on Social Media

The best way to improve your golf game without hiring an instructor is to look for the pros on social media. There are tons of great ones out there offering tips and videos for free.

Tip #5: Inventory and Buy New Clubs

Sometimes the damage to your golf game isn’t you–it really is bad clubs! Take a look at your current inventory and decide where you can make improvements. Or, put them up on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace for a newbie to use to help give you proceeds to buy a whole new set.

Tip #6: Start a Yoga Routine

Yes, we mean this! Flexibility is an easy way to improve your stance, swing, and much more. A few minutes a day can make a huge difference.

Tip #7: Watch More Golf on Television

Seeing what the pros who get paid a lot of money to play do is an easy way to improve your own game. Grab a pen and paper for taking notes.

Tip #8: Invest in a Golf Simulator

Technology can also help you improve your game. There are tons of golf simulator tools and intuitive apps on the market to help you see where you’re making errors.

Tip #9: Do More Planks

Golf is a lot more physical of a sport than many people realize. Planks help condition you for stability, which is important to any golfer’s game and just good for your overall health.

Tip #10: Practice Even in the Off-Season

It might be rainy or cold or too hot or whatever condition outside that makes it impossible to golf. No big deal! Find indoor driving ranges and other spots to practice even during the off-season.
