Spring Break Fun: Ski and Golf the Same Day in Bend

Well, it’s been quite a year for everyone. The stock market has been down and up, face masks have been up and down, and our spirits have followed suit. If you want a chance to stay and play somewhere close to home, consider the perfect solution: a sporty staycation!

Bend’s top golf course, River’s Edge, is right here in Central Oregon, and if you want to, you can ski at Mt. Bachelor the same day. Talk about supersizing your entertainment! Whether you drive in for the afternoon or stay at the nearby Riverhouse Lodge, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the most exciting outdoor activities that Bend has to offer.

The Riverhouse has 220 beautiful rooms along the picturesque Deschutes River with great rates and home comforts. Plus, there are pools, a spa, a fitness room, and restaurants to quench your thirst and hunger between rounds of fun. And, yes, River’s Edge golf course offers unique stay-and-play rates at the lodge.

The best golf course in Central Oregon is just minutes away from the Riverhouse. River’s Edge has impressive views and the challenges every golfer needs to keep their blood pumping! Feel free to get some practice on our putting green or draw a bucket of balls and get your swing back before you hit the links. We offer plenty of room to get your chip shot in tune.

Double Up on Your Fun with a Ski Day

While you’re playing the back nine, you may have to concentrate harder than usual at golf as you stare off at snow-capped Mt. Bachelor. But don’t fret; the ski runs are just 20 minutes away! Take a quick drive down Highway 97 to SW Century Drive, and you’ll be up the mountain before you know it. Don’t forget to make free parking reservations, as space is limited.

If you haven’t skied Bachelor, you’re in for a treat, and if you don’t want to drive, shuttles leave Bend as early as 6:30 am (and you thought only golfers got up early). The resort is designed for ski and snowboarding, offers private lessons, and has equipment rental.

Once you are up the mountain, you can take the Interlodge Shuttle between Sunrise and the West Village lot at any time between 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Shuttles run from the two base areas every half hour, leaving West Village from Sunrise.

On the slopes, you’ll find more than 4,300 acres of skiable terrain. There are more than 100 named runs and a vertical drop of 3,365 feet. To get you there, Mt. Bachelor has eight high-speed quads and three triple-chair lifts. You can ski all around the entire mountain cone.

In addition, there are multiple parks, half pipe, and plenty of natural terrain for terrain park enthusiasts. Yes, you really can ski and golf on the same day, or you can stay and play each on their own days.
