Perseverance Is Key To Maintaining Your Golf Fitness Routine

Golf fitness allows you to keep your body physically in shape to compete in the sport and to have the endurance to play through each course with strength and stability. Every fitness program should be tailored to exercise the body, encourage you to eat healthy foods and help you to stay away from the bad habits that can effect your game play. Most exercise fitness targets three areas of the body:

  • hips
  • back and abdominal region
  • arms, hands and wrists

Perhaps the hardest part in having a golf fitness routine is maintaining it. Daily life circumstances, work, family and other situations can quickly affect any fitness routine. While you have the best of intentions in the beginning, a skipped session here and there adds up until you are no longer getting fit and staying in shape. Here are a few tips to boost your perseverance so you can stay with your fitness routine.

1: Select A Routine That Is Right For Your Body

Golf is played by people of all ages. There are certain routines that work better for different people based on their health, medical conditions and age. Selecting the right routine for your body allows you to stay in shape without overextending yourself. When you do too much in your fitness routine, you can physically injure yourself — hampering your fitness efforts and making it hard to get back into your routine. Develop the right fitness plan that will keep you in shape for golf without straining yourself.

2: Create A Fitness Schedule You Can Easily Stick With

Finding the right time to exercise also allows you to maintain your fitness routine. Set aside a certain timeframe where you won’t be interrupted by family or work. Setting aside 30 minutes to an hour every three days can get you in shape to play golf. If your work schedule gets in the way, consider doing some exercises in the office while you are taking a break. Even fifteen minutes at your desk doing dumbbell curls will help keep you in shape.

3: Keep The Routine Interesting

Many people give up on their golf fitness routine because they become bored with the exercises. They begin to lose interest and slowly stop doing them. To keep your routine entertaining, try mixing up the exercises so you are not doing the same sequence each and every time. Find people to exercise with as the companionship and encouragement can keep driving you forward. Set reachable goals and celebrate each milestone that you reach. All of these tactics can make your fitness routine just as enjoyable as when you are out on the course playing golf.
