Hole 8 River's Edge

Hole #8 is a long uphill par 5 that will truly test your skills. From the wide-open fairways at the start to the slight dogleg right at the end, every shot counts. Be mindful of avoiding the left side, as the ball can easily fall into the deep rough or out of bounds.

A powerful tee shot can set you up for success but remember that it will take three shots to reach the green. Focus on staying in the fairway and positioning yourself for a positive result. The wind conditions may require you to club-up for your final approach, so be prepared for that extra distance.

As you approach the elevated two-tiered green, accuracy becomes crucial. This is the first hole that most players, even in the fairway, will experience a lie where the ball is above your feet. Be cognizant of this as you approach the green, the drop off left of this green is significant and unplayable.

Pay attention to the pin position, strategize how to land on the right level, and aim to stay below the hole for a favorable putting position. This green will remind you that precisely placed approach shots outweigh strong drives. An approach shot landing above the whole almost guarantees a three putt.

While you’re positioned on this magnificent green, take a moment to capture the breathtaking views around you. The sight of Pilot Butte and the eastern side of Bend is truly spectacular. Snap a photo, soak in the scenery, and treasure the memories created on this exceptional hole.
